a reverse image etching done on black coated gessobord, this scratchboard drawing shows a storm moving across the Chihuahuan Desert
NOW ON THE DESERT. (It happens!) I did this scratchboard etching while sitting in my recliner while snow obscured the view out the frosty windows. The power was off, so the light was dim and painting, seeing color nuances would've been impossible. But drawing, I could do in my sleep, or, at least, in near darkness! That sagebrush in the foreground was completely buried in white by morning. Bet it loved that rare blanket of moisture.
