This colored pencil drawing developed as a training companion to the pastel of the same title. While soft pastels yielded vivid color and shapes to this skyscape, drawing it on Bristol board with colored pencils made me think more about the internal movement of this cloud. Lines of broken color indicate the churning development of this towering cumulus like a roadmap of this sky. These miniatures, done on the same afternoon, demonstrate how the choice of medium affects the finished artwork. My duplicated subject tells the same story in both paintings, but uses a different voice to do so.
