Plants in the high desert of Far West Texas must adapt to the scorching sun, but that doesn't mean they don't enjoy the cool, moist night air. Desert willows aren't true willow trees ~ they are shrubby relatives of trumpet vines ~ but their slender leaves and twisting branches give them their name. The drought tolerant plants flower in a profuse show of orchid blooms that form delightful strings of seed pods. This one stood isolated in tall grass, waiting to be admired as it decorated a new day. And, it was.
The archival Gessobord is "gallery wrapped" in a wooden cradle. I continued my painting around each 1.5" edge, so a frame isn't needed. (though it could be conventionally framed)
