Golden cottonwoods line the remote volcanic rock palisades of the Davis Mountains in Far West Texas each fall. The giant old trees follow Limpia Creek and subterranean water and are gaily ribboned across tall grass that has only recently dropped its seed. Cumulus clouds float through bluer than blue sky and brush the tops of cliffs that shimmer with the reflected color of the trees.
This drawing is of an actual location that pretty much composed itself into patterns of light and shape. As an artist, all I had to do was leave out anything that didn't add to the glamour of this fall day as I drew on this palm-sized surface.
matted to 7" x 5" fit a readymade frame (this simple, narrow mat protects the art but can easily be removed)
