Canyon Solitude

The seemingly weird and random rock formations in the desert began to take on a pattern after a while; they told a story of lava flows, massive shifts, erosion, and the passage of geologic time. They evoked a mood of sacred silence.
The rocks provided the inspiration for my series of canyon paintings, created after an immersion experience in the Mojave Desert in Southern California.
