The rocks have a story to tell, one of violent volcanic formation and eons of silent sentinel duty. They form the walls of an isolated desert canyon, a place that feels sacred. The bird, free to fly, provides a contrast and spark of life. The pattern and power of the rock formations provided the inspiration for my series of canyon paintings, created after an immersion experience in the Mojave Desert in Southern California.
