'The Things We Carry'(ps our little basketball player) is an abstract figurative form that seemingly carries a ball precariously at its hip, with a draped pieced of fabric over its shoulder. It alludes to the physical and emotional things we all carry throughout our lives, and invites you to dive inward into its belly and ponder what memories and emotions are carried inside this sculpture and yourself.
The ball and fabric are glazed in a soft metal antique brass glaze, which glimmers subtly in the sun beautifully. It's a new glaze I'm introducing to my body of work. Can share videos to show how it shimmers in the sun.
