Wapiti - the native word for elk, graces this newest addition to my work. I snagged this incredible elk skull from Clear Creek Trading in Sedona on my 2025 Gallery Tour. I always have to stop into this place because I have gotten some of my best skulls here. This guy was hanging in the back room and had quite a bit of damage to the nose. Thanks to some instruction from the guys at Prairie Edge, I knew how to reconstruct the missing bone - which I have to say turned out fantastic! My husband Mike lent a hand with the Apoxy Sculpt, Bondo and a great deal of sanding to provide me an incredibly smooth surface to work on.
The center cabochon is Jasper, as are many of the stone beads used on this skull. Embossed leather accents, along with intricate Czech glass seed beads. Even a few stone arrowheads show up on this amazing piece.
