This nymph is a strong guardian of a complex forest environment she fills with energy and power. The redwood tree nymph is losing hope in the face of threats to her tree and forest, in the area and across the world, as continued degradation and fragmentation reduce the ability of trees to shelter valuable ecosystems and mitigate warming.
This is the first nymph I drew with her environment based on my own photography. Candy wrappers are layered under the photograph on tissue, creating the base of the image and providing shine and sparkle, but also highlighting the trash in our natural areas. The photograph is tiled on four sheets centered in the piece and I tiled around the edges from various modified portions of the original image, creating the effect of a border.
