The nymph is a strong guardian of a complex environment she fills with energy and power. This was the second nymph, based on a neon sign showgirl I found in a magazine. After the first electric nymph was in the dark woods, I had images of a sandstone canyon and decided she would be a desert nymph. This is not an environment the Greeks assigned any nymphs, but with her lighter color palette, I thought her a good daylight contrast.
Her arid environment is created from various natural textures I enhanced with paint and includes luxuries like jewelry and stacks of velvet shoes. Her lines of power started as found images of light trails and lightening, continuing with a zig-zag patterned sweater that I cut into individual stripes and laid end-to-end with more added in paint.
