‘The Fall of the Amazon’ is my 4th mixed media assemblage collaborative piece with found object artist Lynn Dodge in our environmental impact series. Areas of rainforest the size of Delaware are destroyed each year in the interest of corporate greed at the cost of millions of species of wildlife and plant life. Forests act as carbon sinks and can remove pollutants from the atmosphere, making them a highly versatile tool to fight air pollution and mitigate climate change. Every year, the world's forests absorb one-third of the carbon dioxide released from burning fossil fuels worldwide. Even though Lynn and I explore our creativity through different processes, mine through mixed media painting and hers with found object art, we have a special synchronicity that drives us to bring more awareness of these issues to the world.
