Paint has so many possibilities and artists experiment with it to achieve specific effects. I wanted a misty lost feeling for my forest scene and used different techniques to fill the opening with these trees. That was planned; however, the area leading into it was a found image. I saw roots and paths and light beneath—suggesting the "way in" is an interesting as the destination and that exploring all those ways in is even more intriguing.
