Majestic- the only word to describe how it felt to see this after driving hours through the vast gold, mauve and sage colored dessert of Big Bend National Park. The intended overlook was on the other side of the road offering a view of the equally impressive Chisos Mountains. I walked across the road because I saw another driver stop and do the same… I had to walk up a bit then look down and out over this amazing scene. Those vivid colors took my breath away. There were horse grazing down below along the Rio Grande too. Our destination that day was the Santa Elena Canyon which we hiked into shortly after we stopped here.
