Curiosities
Using traditional collage, I have brought together my original images to create something that doesn't otherwise exist. Also included in this series are pieces where I essentially did the same thing with my specimen collection and then photographed it.
Field Notes
A speckled feather, delicate insect wing, intricate leaf pattern or stunning cloud formation might all be found on a good walk. The art in Field Notes celebrates the meditative and restorative practice of slowing down to observe, record, and delight in the natural world. It’s less about the things and more about the process — the peace and calm created by the simple act of noticing.
Live Paintings
These pieces were all painted live onstage, often at church but sometimes in other venues and events. Most often these works will reflect my faith and were a product of meditation and prayer.
Memento Mori
Though this phrase is Latin for "remember you must die," it is meant to remind us all to make the most of the time we have. In addition, when I have images of dead birds, it is a reference to the scripture in Matthew that says that God knows whenever even a small bird dies, and cares about each one, and how much more he cares about each of us.
Natural History
Inspired by the collections in natural history museums, in this series I have arranged specimens in small boxes, much as one might find in those drawers and similar shadow box displays.
Trees
I have had a long time love affair with trees, ever reaching for the heavens, while remaining rooted in the earth.
