If you cannot look out your window this winter and see flowers, the intent of this painting is to stimulate your imagination, and hope for Spring. The painting portrays two flowers that perform well in North Carolina, the Carolina Doll Daisies, and Sundial Lupines. These Sundial Lupines are more successfully grown on the East Coast of North Carolina than in the central Piedmont because of the need for sandy soil. Carolina Lupines would do better in the central Piedmont area where I am located, but unfortunately, they only come in yellow, which did not fit my garden color scheme. So, amend the soil I must if I am to enjoy the blue-violet and pink Sundial Lupines.
