I began this painting in the weeks after my husband's sudden death due to a heart attack. As anyone going through grief knows, it is almost unbearable to endure. The white roses I chose to represent our enduring love, beauty, and devotion to one another. I enhanced them with deep purple shadows in their hearts, as a symbol of my grief for love lost. The ocean symbolizes the ebb and flow of life, and a powerful symbol of our inability to control nature. The sailboats symbolize the Holy Spirit propelling a new journey. We have both been propelled into new lives, but ultimately we will reach the same destination.
