The Absences - Coca Cola Colombia (2018) is a part of the National Drawings project. This proposal develops an approach to the History of Colombian Art and the work of different Colombian artists, such as Antonio Caro, who through decades reviewed the political reality of the country. The idea behind these works is to generate an image using the perforations, indicating the perspective and the relative place of the observer’s point of view. In this order of ideas, the series appropriates iconic images to suggest a new way of deconstructing reality, allowing the viewer to establish an update for that particular context, based on the use of materials, textures and luminosities. A disappearance of the sign is proposed, but a possibility of re-reading from a new reference is indicated. In this way, an operation is carried out where the name of the pieces has not changed, generating a quote. There, the symbol reflects the non place that the viewer observes, making him aware of the Colombia he inhabits in his present.
