This artwork is part of a trilogy in which I explore the same technique and a shared organic form. It is a textile work made on recycled cotton canvas using pre braided straw. I manipulated and stretched the straw to disrupt its straight structure, allowing curves, shifts and small irregularities to appear. Each section is sewn onto the canvas, and through this process the surface gains a subtle relief that brings texture and a more organic presence.
The work draws from the symbolism of water and the way rivers move and transform the land they pass through. The gentle curve of the form and the contrast between the two tones suggest a quiet sense of flow, where the material seems to follow its own rhythm. This piece reflects my search for more fluidity in textiles, letting the natural qualities of the straw guide the final shape and texture.
