Created with washi paper, colored Chinese ink, and pigments on canvas, this work unfolds a vibrant range of pinks, oranges, and blues that seem to transform with the light.
Inspired by metamorphosis and the minute scales covering butterfly wings, the piece is composed of countless paper units that entirely blanket the surface. These small fragments overlap like scales, forming a three-dimensional, fractal-like structure. As in nature, light reflects on the microstructure of the material, producing shifting and multiple chromatic effects.
The work resists a single focal point: the viewer’s gaze is invited to move continuously, dancing across the surface, discovering new textures and colors in a constant process of transformation.
