PONT DU CARROUSEL is a very famous bridge that has been often photographed, was originally built in 1831 with the last redesign in 1930 to accommodate current traffic. After sketching the design, I glazed many layers of watercolor first followed by acrylic on the buildings and bridge, adding texture with each layer with various tools. The buildings were drawn with sepia ink. The sky was under-painted with warm sepia tones, then painted with a specific sponge to achieve the texture. This painting won a Winsor & Newton Award in the Southern Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition.
