Welcome! I grew up throughout the west and southwest of America, and have learned to see the distinctive beauty of our world no matter where I find myself.
MessageFor me, there is definitely something about older objects, especially those objects which have outlived their usefulness, that I find particularly interesting. With this object, I was thinking about how its usefulness has changed over the years. Quite some time ago it was new and shiny and was capable of delivering the spark some internal combustion engine needed. Those days have now passed, and I found it in a $3 bin at a neighborhood antique store. It quickly caught my attention due to its color and shape. And it’s found new life as a model in an artist’s studio.
I wonder how often we dismiss an object, or one another due to our assumptions of usefulness and beauty? I think it’s way more often than we’d like to imagine.
