ARTIST STATEMENT:
This traditionally coiled basket showcases a carnival of color and pattern with a circus ‘big top’ pattern on top and a pinwheel swirl of colorful arms encircling the basket bottom. Sides feature bands of classic repeat patterns updated with a riot of coordinating but high-contrast color. My goal was to infuse as much color and pattern as possible into this small vessel, delivering eye candy hues, tones, and shapes, yet delivering a cohesive whole when done.

TECHNIQUE:
Traditional coiling of assorted raffia sourced from around the world, wrapped around fiber rush core material.

MATERIALS:
Raffia of all different types, paper fiber rush core.
