ARTIST STATEMENT:
I began this piece wanting to explore pulled warp tapestry. My initial concept completely left my mind once I took the piece off the loom and pulled the warp. It came alive for me at that moment with an energy I could feel... one of still protection, while the undulation of the weave inside the opening, with its mouth-like quality, actively calls out to the others.

TECHNIQUE:
Pulled warp tapestry, slit tapestry, and hachure.

MATERIALS:
Unprocessed Icelandic sheep fleece, wool (handspun & commercial), cotton warp.
