High Summer Prairie III is one of a series of watercolors created to celebrate Wisconsin prairies in support of the efforts to restore them. My prairie includes native plants like Pale Purple Coneflowers, Stiff Goldenrod, Bergamot, Asters, Blazing Star, Snakeroot, and Cardinal Flowers. It also includes adapted non-native plants that have naturalized to Wisconsin, like Queen Anne’s Lace. Look closely and you will find a dragonfly and pollinators like Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, native bees and butterflies.
