Born to Dutch dairy farmers in LA, lived life cross-culturally, especially in Africa , now pursuing my first love, making art.
MessageI was living in a commune in 1972. It was located near an army base in Washington state, with soldiers just back or on their way to Viet Nam.
We had a surprisingly gifted band that sounded a lot like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, so we invited soldiers back to our place for music, food, and sharing God's love and hope.
And after every meal, people volunteered to do the dishes.
I was the volunteering type, and whenever I volunteered, this one guy would volunteer. I thought he must love to do dishes!
We ended up getting married. I was all of 19 and we had our lives ahead of us. We were committed to sharing God's love with the world in whatever way we could.
We've been companions now for half a century, and have had a life of good adventures.
And my husband still does the dishes–although, as you might have guessed, it's not the dish-washing that attracted him.
