Born to Dutch dairy farmers in LA, lived life cross-culturally, especially in Africa , now pursuing my first love, making art.
MessageI have a friend and mentor to whom I am greatly indebted. We worked hard, very hard together.
Somehow the chemistry worked, and things usually went better when we were together. I led 80 workshops with her in 19 countries over 22 years. We developed a pedagogical style and published several textbooks together.
It was work that brought energy, laughter, travel, and adventure. We loved what we were doing so much we didn’t want to stop.
And, at 5:00 p.m. every day, no matter where we were in the world, it was time to go out for a walk. A walk about, that is. No goal in mind, just being outside, moving our bodies, taking in the sights and sounds (sometimes with a lot of exhaust fumes).
It’s one of the many disciplines for happiness that I learned from my friend.
