Words are abstract. Meaning is assigned by culture and tradition.
For this series I wrote color words on paper and then chose one at random. The first word was white. I allowed the right side of my brain to explore white and this is the painting that resulted. White is a powerful color and concept. Like the word black, it is racially and politically charged. There is life and death in the word white. I was surprised to see what transpired. Rather than focus on all the cultural implications of the word I let my inner child out to play. She had fun.
