Beauty is subversive. Hope is abstract. I paint hope through abstraction. Each painting is a declaration of beauty. Each painting is a declaration of hope.
MessageAbstraction hints at memory, tugs at hearts, and dances around the edge of story. The stories we believe define how we see ourselves and how we see each other.
Story captures a moment in time. A painting captures that moment in pigment. Both, story and painting, suspend time in a physical space. The suspension enables them to cross cultural boundaries and touch the emotions of our shared humanity.
I began studying painting in the 1980s. My life and art journeys have run intertwined.
Each painting is an exploration of journey. Some layers, like some stories, are obscured with the passage of time. Other layers remain visible to the end. Each layer influences, but no single layer determines, the final result.
I am affected by circumstance, but I respond is my choice.
My paintings provide a safe place, a sacred space, for stories: both individual & corporate, to unfold.
Each painting is story. Each painting is a declaration of hope.
A declaration that beauty possible.
Once upon a time. Painting in her dreams. True stories. Waiting to be seen.

Statement
I use abstraction to paint hope.
Abstraction hints and tugs at memory. Abstraction dances around the edge of story.
Good stories are true. The stories we tell define who we are.
My abstract paintings provide a safe place, a sacred space, for story to unfold. A moment is captured in pigment and suspended in time.
Each painting is an exploration of what has been, what is, and what might be. Each layer influences, but no single layer determines, the final result.
Each painting is a declaration that beauty is possible.
Each painting is a declaration of hope.
