“Moss Babies” is derived from digitally created artwork I designed. It was inspired by a c. 1914 photo taken in La Loche, Saskatchewan and listed with the Société historique de Saint-Boniface_OMI.
I was taught that women are an integral part of the Navajo family system, and with this work I want to honor and show respect to their images by keeping their images alive. From that upbringing, I currently focus on Native women and their children as a recognition of our future generations, and the family ties that are important to all.
It was juried into the Cherokee Trail of Tears Art show in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and the Washington State Historical Museum “In the Spirit” Contemporary Native Arts Exhibition.
