Gail Hoban
Saffron Walden, Essex
Gail draws trees, lichen, fungi and native wild plants and the resilience of overlooked nature with a ballpoint pen to communicate about land and nature access.
MessageGail runs her fingers across bark as you would rattle across railings as a kid. Or if no one’s watching strokes and feels the texture of what she wants to draw. This mono print reminds her of running my hands across bark, passing on her feelings through touch. With this lovely medium the ink quality helped to create all the wonderful textures within bark. The orange brown colour palette gives a warm quality to the abstract image. And restricting to one colour really makes you concentrate on the lines and shapes.
This is one of Gail’s prints from a workshop with Fiona Fouhy February 2025 at East London Printmakers.
