Erika Alfiero
Recordando a mi abuela by Erika Alfiero Image: "Memories of Grandma" is a canvas imbued with nostalgia, weaving into its flowers the patterns my grandmother used to crochet on the little mats she patiently taught me to make. The flowers adorning the Catrina's head are painted using a unique technique: watercolors that, upon receiving steam and immediately being erased with primer, create a glaze. This glaze evokes the illusion of what is no longer there or lies veiled, as in imagination or dreams. Thus, my grandmother's image lingers in the memory of those who loved her, a warm remembrance wrapped in affection.

Drawing inspiration from Mexican Day of the Dead traditions, this artwork pays homage to the enduring bond between past and present, where the vibrant hues and delicate threads echo the intricate tapestry of our cultural heritage.
