Unframed: 10 x 14 inches
Framed: 13.5 x 17.5
This was painted en plein air while overlooking Rankin Ranch in Caliente, California. In April of 2024, I was invited to participate in a Kern County plein air event where we had 4-5 days to paint anywhere in Kern County. I was drawn to the rustic feel of Caliente, CA, and the surrounding areas. Winding roads cut up and down the mountains as small, old oak trees lined the streets. American history was embedded everywhere I looked: the working ranches, old houses, and warm and friendly people.
The painting was painted with professional oil paints on an oil ground panel. The oil ground creates a non-absorbent surface so the oil paint can sit on top, keeping the colors vibrant and fresh. The framed version features a flat, black, contemporary frame with an inner gold lip. It is wired and ready for immediate hanging. The painting is an unusual size, so if you are interested in buying the painting unframed, just be aware that you will need to have a custom frame made for it.
