Doug Simpson believes we live in an abstract world consisting of physical and spiritual elements. The spiritual or abstract elements being the intangible and invisible world of spirit, thoughts, feelings, emotions, ideas, hopes, and dreams. It is the world we cannot physically see or touch. And the tangible world of our physical existence that we consider to be reality.
"Formative Vision” is a mixed media painting of the abstract and the real painted on physical canvas. In part, the media used includes acrylic paints, inks, fibrous paper, and texture mediums.
The abstract portion of “Formative Vision” is done with semi-controlled acrylic mediums. Although the abstract portion is physical, it does not represent any recognizable physical object. It is created out of the abstract thoughts, senses, and emotions in the abstract mind of Doug Simpson. It is created to be seen by the abstract mind of the viewer.
