This once common species of the tiny South Pacific island disappeared within ten years of an unfortunate accident. In 1918 the SS Makambo grounded at Ned's Beach, allowing horses of shipboard black rats to escape into the bush. This proved disastrous for many of the isolated populations of birds, not just the White-Eyes. An extension search in both 1928 and 1936 revealed no trace. Zosterops stenua.
Framed in shabby-chic plein air wood frame, weathered gold leaf look.
