- From Woodbury Studio from the Marginal Way
A wintery view of Perkins Cove as seen from Ogunquit's Marginal Way. Among the distant cottages is the studio of prominent American artist Charles H. Woodbury (1864– 1940).
Don lived in Ogunquit, Maine, for over 30 years and drew and painted on the Marginal Way. An opening between old cedars overlooking Oarweed Cove is a favorite spot to work from during the winter months. The studio of Charles H. Woodbury, an American artist (1864–1940), is referenced in many of Don Gorvett’s Ogunquit woodcuts. Shown here are the preliminary drawing, the reduction woodcut print, the color palette, and the woodblock. The Woodbury studio reference is made in many of Don Gorvett's Ogunquit woodcuts.
