The texture of lemons, pineapple and the leather case next to the smooth silver pitcher was my inspiration in painting this oil still life painting. I have always loved the juxtaposition of smooth and rough surfaces. It reminds me of the facts of life. We can’t have light without darkness or joy without sorrow. It is during the brightest days that dark shadows are cast.
