This artwork marks the starting point of a series inspired by the idea of stepping beyond prescribed boundaries — both visually and conceptually. As children, we learn to color “nicely,” to stay inside the lines, to follow rules before creativity. And while consideration, responsibility, and kindness remain essential values, there is also a call to think big and wild, to pursue one’s own voice, dreams, and direction.
“She Paints Outside the Lines” embodies exactly that spirit: bold, confident, and unapologetically independent. A visual reminder to trust your instincts, find your own path and walk it with confidence.
What began as a single exploration has grown into a full series, driven by my deep fascination with the theme and with the freedom of working on paper. The immediacy of the material, the unfiltered gestures, and the openness of the process have drawn me in completely. This format allows for a raw, intuitive approach — one that invites spontaneity, embraces imperfection, and captures the energy of painting beyond the lines.
The piece measures 175 × 150 cm. The lower edge is irregular; the 175 cm height is taken from the shorter right side. Depending on presentation or framing, the edge can either remain irregular or be straightened. During the creation process, the work was screwed to the wall, resulting in drill holes along the perimeter. See the detail photos for both aspects!
Works on paper typically show signs of handling even when new, such as slightly bumped edges or corners. These are an inherent part of the artistic process.
