"BETWEEN JOY AND FEAR" is about the duality of orange, an electric hue. This painting is also a direct reflection of my intuitive and gestural process. It’s about the push and pull that happens when working in a dialogue with the painting and letting the material speak. The intensity of the central orange became the true subject - it's a color that is deeply paradoxical. It’s the color of the most beautiful, vital sunset, a symbol of optimism and pure life force. Yet, it is also the sharp color of warning signs and the fierce glow of an destroying fire, holding an inherent edge of danger or urgency.
It’s about accepting that you can't have the light without the shadow. The painting ultimately seeks to capture that electrifying, powerful space where maximum energy meets maximum risk. It is because of this inherent duality that I chose the title - even though the orange in this particular work clearly represents the color's positive, life-affirming aspect!
