Five the Redeemer

- Trevor Bly
Trevor Bly’s art practice explores identity through locale. Deeply primal, his key references are the tribal nature of modern cliques residing in Perth’s northern fields, particularly in Craigie, the suburb in which he was raised.
In ‘Five the Redeemer’ Bly juxtaposes the skull, a reference to the Dutch Master’s vanitas, with the rubbish bin, a reference to the mechanics of suburbia, creating a new dialogue. Using a variety of media, the use of spray paint links to Bly’s work as a graffiti and mural artist, and his formal arts training.
