Kiwis are shy, nocturnal, flightless birds native to New Zealand. Their eggs are remarkably large in proportion to their bodies. When I lived in New Zealand, I was fortunate to see them in a wildlife park, though I never encountered one in the wild. Kiwi grew from my lasting fascination with this quiet and extraordinary little bird.
