Handle with Care began with my first close encounter with an opossum. I noticed a little one walking strangely through the grass before lying down. Thinking he was injured, I went to find something to carry him in, but by the time I returned, he was gone. I’m fairly certain he had simply “played dead”—and completely fooled me.
These quiet creatures of the night are surprisingly gentle, yet they are often feared and misunderstood. The subtle heartbeat on the sphere is a reminder of the vulnerability beneath that misunderstanding.
