Liturgy in Santa Fe was founded by Blase Schauer, OP as an outgrowth of his "Las Cruces Experiement" begun in 1960 at the University of New Mexico Las Cruces. After moving to Santa Fe in 1970, the liturgy project gained national recognition for its innovative efforts to bring Catholic artists together in support of the Liturgy. Part of this effort included commissioned artwork by local artists, including George Lopez (1900-1993), Meinrad Craighead (1936-2019), and Sister Giotto Moots (1927-2018).
