No. 124/149. After studying at the Ecole des Beaux- Arts Saint-Luc in Ghent, Carpentier, a member of the vice-Province of Belgium, left for Japan in 1949, where he began by studying Japanese art in Tokyo. He rendered various Dominican figures and biblical scenes in silkscreen, linography and stained glass. His use of big black outlines and the renderings of big hands echo the Flemish expressionism he saw in his youth.

  • Subject Matter: Dominican, Rosary, Virgin Mary
  • Collections: Paintings and Prints
