Caught in a moment of shadow contrasted to blue skies, this alleyway feels calm and serene. A place that often goes unnoticed as simply a conduit from here to there, one is drawn in by the details from the popcorn clouds to the the tiny light posts and power lines peaking over the fence. The reflections of light on the fence are a Rorschach test for each viewer, sometimes resulting in some fun interpretations. The dark shadows are mixed in various hues of purple, green or orange as a nod to Rothko's black paintings, which are, in fact, not simply black. The more one pauses to look, the more one sees, an interesting life lesson. The meditative repetition of the corrugated metal fence begins to make this corner feel like a haven of stillness, a momentary respite.
