Los Angeles is known for clear blue skies and pink and golden sunsets, so clouds are a treat - especially when they are actual rain clouds, not smoke clouds from fires. I'm referring to these clouds as an "afterimage" because I saw them after the rain stopped, just as they were lit up by the sunset. The beauty of the golden highlights on these majestic billows was burned into my memory and is now captured in paint, extending the image beyond the actual fact. Combining them with the silhouettes of the commonplace power lines and industrial fencing is a nod to my fascination with finding moments of transcendence in everyday places.
