Why a pink fence? This invented palette was inspired by the memory of a particularly radiant sunset that cast the normally blue-gray corrugated metal fence into pink, and by a pink mask I had lying around the study at the time. Using quinacridone magenta - hence the title - as my base, I mixed it with other colors to come up with these vibrant pink hues.
Interlude - I imagine this scene as a pause; a moment one might notice on the way to somewhere, not a destination in and of itself. But in pausing to notice it, it becomes a breath, an intermission, an interlude in the journey. I also like this word as it relates to music; indeed, the repetitive fence lines seem to create their own soothing rhythm.
