The source photo for this painting was takenon a New Year's trip to the Oregon Coast. Spending time walking on the beach had a renewing effect. It felt like the perfect way to end one year and begin anew, which is why I called this Looking Ahead. It was shot looking south from the southern end of Cannon Beach. The underlying collage is made of pages from antique Japanese books.
