Ebey's Landing is one of our favorite family walks--it has been since my husband's first Father's Day, when I carried our baby girl in a front back for all of it, no doubt her first hike ever.
We've been back many times, often with out-of-town guests, as it never fails to impress. But this particular time was a spur-of-the-moment dash to the ferry to catch a late afternoon stroll. It was absolutely glorious in its array of spring greens decorated with occasional wildflowers. It had been a stressful month, and being up on that bluff with fresh air, a bluebird sky, a familiar path and that swooping crescent of beach below was incredibly revitalizing.
The collage for this piece is made up of pages from antique Japanese woodblock print books. Japanese woodblock print landscapes often have a characteristic flattening of perspective that still somehow conveys depth of space. It was one of the challenges I set myself here. Do you see the man on the beach? Did it change your perspective at all?
