At Mountain Lake in Moran State Park, Orcas Island, Washington.
A recent addition to my growing “oeuvre” of dock paintings. It would be fair to call it an obsession. I think it must be the juxtaposition of the geometric vs. organic, man-made vs. nature. Or maybe that it conjures up memories of exploratory paddles in years past. And then there’s how you feel out on the dock—surrounded by water and sky, as if you’ve crossed a bridge to some magical momentary haven. This one also has that glorious ring of protection we all need every once in a while—maybe especially in a time like the one we’re (not quite all) emerging from.
