If I am sitting in the passenger seat on a road trip and the light and landscape hold my interest, I'm probably snapping photos. Many of them are blurry or just missed the barn or arrangement of trees that grabbed my eye (a hazard of traveling at highway speed), but every once in a while I have enough of the essence to translate it into paint. This capture is from my one of my favorite stretches on I-5 S near Harrisburg, Oregon as the sun was setting. Collage materials: Arvo Part's Fur Alina and Spiegel Im Spiegel and others, poem by Wendell Berry, "Satisfactions of the Mad Farmer."
